Abstract

Many ways one goal! SDGs & UN 2030 Agenda in Portuguese Libraries

BAD, Portuguese Librarian Association, started early contacts with national and international entities responsible for 2030 Agenda and aim to the National Development Plan, trying to put an official reference to libraries and access information as facilitators of the implementation of SDG. With IFLAs support to the project “Portuguese Libraries for Development and Agenda 2030” and the participation at IAP, BAD is committed to challenge all Portuguese professionals about the role of libraries in their communities, highlighting the importance of their action through access to information in what concerns the 17 SDG. Through regional workshops, webinars and contacts with librarians around the country, we’ve produced graphic materials, a website with various resources, we are register projects of the Portuguese libraries and we’ve running a National Award for the best project. We’ve contacted more than 100 professionals, from specialized to public libraries and continue to collect and register evidences cases, allowing a showcase of projects and impact of their work in the population they serve. Two great achievements were the acceptance of the Association as member of UN Global Compact Network Portugal and the preparation of a manual for Libraries that want to align their strategies to the SDG and the 2030 Agenda. https://bad.pt/agenda2030
