Abstract

"Nostalgia Library"— the new public reading space of countryside in China

“Nostalgia Library” is a brand-new “Library + Bookstore” public reading space constructed in rural areas of Yunnan Province, China. In cooperation with Xinhua Bookstore Group, “Nostalgia Library” established the "reader - centered” model, so that readers can become the initiators and decision makers of the construction of literature resources. It also integrates mini-Museums inside to present the local cultural connotation of Yunnan with traditional architectural patterns and old objects, plays a positive role in the local cultural heritage and tourism industry. At present, over 30 Nostalgia Libraries have been built in the whole province and 3 co-founded overseas, becoming the link of cultural exchange between China and foreign countries. “Nostalgia Library” is an inspiriting change for the traditional rural libraries, which perfectly meets the theme of WLIC 2019.
