Abstract

Oulu City Library reading diplomas

Reading diplomas are a great way to improve reading skills and enthusiasm towards reading. Oulu City Library offers reading diplomas from preschoolers to high school students. Preschoolers have their own reading diploma. The main goal of the diploma is to inspire parents to read to and with their children. Primary school pupils, secondary school pupils and high school students all have their own reading diplomas with book lists and tasks. The reading diplomas are made in co-operation with the schools. Secondary school pupils can use Diploma reader App to complete their reading diplomas. Our reading diplomas also include a diploma for comprehensive school pupils with reading difficulties, a diploma for comprehensive school pupils who read and speak Finnish as a second language and an English reading diploma for the pupils of Oulu International School. Our poster will have pictures of the reading diploma illustrations and the poster will present all of our reading diplomas. In addition, Diploma reader App is introduced in the poster.
