Abstract

"Family Day": A Sample of solidarity and community between public library and society

In this article authors have expressed their practical experiences of implementation of "Family Day" project at the Public Library in Iran (Tehran). Naming a specific day in public library called "Family Day" in which all family members (father, mother, and children) come to library for studying and doing cultural activities including games, storytelling, creative performances, and so on, causes not only the unity between the library and the community, but also leads to an increased tendency to libraries, promotes culture of studying and developing knowledge of society; Also the presence of mothers and housewives with their kids in the library strengthens family foundation and creates a pleasure of group reading. This project was conducted in collaboration with librarians and without any cost.
