Abstract

Meet our voices

Croatian Library for the Blind (CLB further on) offers library services for people with print disabilities. Library produces Braille and talking books and magazines and organizes various events and workshops. For listener, narrator’s voice is a media of written work – its color and reading virtue delivers standard print to the print disabled user. Talking book narrators are the ones giving print disabled persons a chance to read. All of us have different preferences and already shaped tastes in human voices but we all share the same desire when we listen to the talking book: we love to be engaged in the story. In 2015, celebrating 50th anniversary, CLB wanted to pay a tribute to its narrators, sound recorders and users. Over a six-month span, CLB users where introduced to the CLB talking book narrators. CLB narrators, used to reading behind the studio doors, finally faced their audience and users unveiled the persons behind the voices that shaped their taste in literature.
