Abstract
Caxton to cloud: the future of news preservation, storage and access
This paper outlines how the British Library is meeting the challenge of future news preservation, storage and access. It tracks the transition from traditional hard copy collections of newspapers in a collection with content dating back from the 1800’s to today through to the current transformational changes taking place with the creation of a modern, sophisticated low oxygen physical storage environment. It also outlines the collection challenges involved in migrating from a core newspaper collection to a news content strategy which captures and makes available multimedia formats.Item Type: | Conference or Workshop Item (Paper) | ||||||
