Abstract
Atypical, Ideal Future Library: CJ Creative Library @Korea University
Due to changes in learning behavior, the Korea University Library has been reconsidering the use of library space as well as the role of the library as a central point of information production and distribution. In accordance with the SOC (Sympathy, Openness, and Coexistence) Policy in which universities, corporations, and society work together to promote and share the value of university libraries, a development plan has been implemented to transform the library into an academic theme park. As the first step in the development plan, the CJ Creator Library(CCL), as both a place for media-based entrepreneurship and creativity and a combined culture space to study and rest, was established on May 30, 2017. The CCL consists of studios for the production and performance of media content, an Eventhall for academic events, the Maru Rest Area for studying and resting on the floor, and Group rooms of flexible sizes. It aspires to be the ideal library: atypical, unfamiliar, and completely different from the existing concept of a library, a place where ordinarily talking, sleeping, and eating are prohibited. Rather, it expands the concept to become a knowledge playground for the production and distribution of information.Item Type: | Conference or Workshop Item (Poster) | ||||||
