Abstract
Controlling Non Communicable Diseases in Nigeria Through Health Library Outreach Projects
Hypertension, heart attacks, stroke, kidney disease, and diabetes (types 2), some cancers and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are ravaging Nigerians daily. This project was aimed at curbing this rising burden of non-communicable diseases in Nigeria through accurate NCDs health information dissemination to the citizenry especially in rural communities. The Health Library team carried out anti-NCD awareness campaigns in church locations, reaching thousands of worshippers every Sunday. The outreach increases their literacy level in this area and confidence to affect changes in lifestyle. It reduces their vulnerability to NCDs and empowers them to make informed lifestyle choices for healthy living for themselves, their families and the larger society.Item Type: | Conference or Workshop Item (Paper) | ||||||
