Abstract

Needs Assessment in M-Library Services of Academic Libraries in Thailand

This research aims to conduct needs assessment in m-library services of academic libraries in Thailand for overall satisfaction and 4 aspects: library public relations, information searching, circulation services and facilities. The sampling was 500 undergraduate students from various universities in Bangkok and other provinces. Data collection was conducted via questionnaires. The data are analyzed with descriptive statistics such as frequency distribution, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The needs assessment was analyzed with Modified Priority Needs Index (PNImodified). The research results revealed that 4 types of needs are prioritized from most to least as follows: other library facilities (PNImodified=0.236), library public relations ( PNImodified= 0.231) , search ( PNImodified= 0.218) and circulation service ( PNImodified= 0.187), respectively. The most needed services are 1) new/good book recommendation (PNImodified=0.305) 2) access to e-books on mobile phones (PNImodified=0.302) and 3) access to newsletters via QR code (PNImodified=0.294).
