Abstract
Getting Started in Web Archiving
This purpose of this paper is to provide general information about how organizations can get started in web archiving, for both those who are developing new web archiving programs and for libraries that are just beginning to explore the possibilities. The paper includes an overview of considerations when establishing a web archiving program, including typical approaches that national libraries take when preserving the web. These include: collection development, legal issues, tools and approaches, staffing, and whether to do work in-house or outsource some or most of the work. The paper will introduce the International Internet Preservation Consortium and the benefits of collaboration when building web archives.Item Type: | Conference or Workshop Item (Paper) | ||||||
