Abstract

A Learning Adventure: Developing a Librarian-Led Short-Term Study Abroad to Barcelona for Undergraduate Students at a Public University in the USA

In the fall of 2014 Laurie Bridges and Kelly McElroy, two academic librarians at Oregon State University in the USA, began the journey of developing a short-term faculty-led study abroad trip for undergraduate students at their university. Short-term study abroad trips have become increasingly popular in the US Higher Education system over the past ten years, but are rarely led by librarians. This poster details the planning process and journey to Barcelona with seven students. The topic of the class was Information and Global Social Justice. A website the librarians created to advertise the class can be found at http://studybarcelona.weebly.com
