Abstract

Assessing and choosing an appropriate library management software that is compatible with the South African Bibliography Catalogue (SABICat)

The purpose of this project was to select a Library Management Systems (LMS) that is compatible with the South African Bibliography Catalogue (SABICat). Ashesi University College library and other libraries of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Ghana (CARLIGH) have subscribed to the SABICat from the South African Bibliographic Network (SABINet). Using a LMS that is compatible with SABICat will better help for resource sharing, universal access to information and knowledge, library holdings to appear on the WorldCat, enable library partnership, and collaboration, access to SABINet electronic resources, and a common bibliographic catalogue for academic libraries in Ghana. A study of four LMSs.
