Abstract

From rural to the world

Currently there are ninety seven (97) Rural Libraries manages by Kedah Public Library Corporation. Besides these libraries, e-Pustaka, a Mobile Multimedia Library is part of the services provided to cater the rural needs. This service is introduced to the public in 2001. To date, for the past three years (2016 – 2018) e-Pustaka has served 1,416 users. E-Pustaka is a medium sized bus equipped with basic Information and Communications Technology (ICT) facilities. The objective of multimedia mobile library is to improve ICT awareness amongst students in rural area. Realizing this needs, Kedah Public Library Corporation introduced the computer literacy class and course to empower students, to enhance communication by addressing digital gap, bringing greater connection to people from around the world for social, support entrepreneurship through online business, to navigate digital learning platforms, inspire innovation as well as preparing current generation for the future. The computer literacy syllabus includes Words, PowerPoint and Internet. The course takes 6 months and the students will receive certificate upon completion.
