Abstract

Improving skills for the protection of printed heritage

Restoration training and international exchange in the fields of preservation and conservation is based on a very simple prerequisite: the shared understanding of the meaning and the correct use of the terminology in this field. But not in every language there is such a clear equivalent. This poster will describe how dedicated professionals and students from Germany, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Mongolia in close collaboration with the Goethe-Institut contributed knowledge and practical experience to develop a unique tool, the Glossary of Paper Conservation. This polyglot dictionary is digitally available free of charge.
