Abstract

Media Initiative about for and with the Children in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Shishu (Children) Academy is a unique organization for physical, cultural and mental development of Bangladeshi children run by Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It has been started the journey with the objective to nurture the creativity and unfold the latent talent of the children of Bangladesh. Academy took an enormous step by organizing the Children Film and Program Production Workshop to unfold the hidden potential of Bangladeshi children to work with media. In the modern age of Information technology and e-entertainment, children’s technical ability and creativity should be enhanced so that the concept of media for about and with children can be practiced through a process. In this way the thoughts and views of children will also be reflected through media as well as a competent generation will be created to face the future challenges. It is a 100 hours course with home reading, assignments and extensive hands on practices. At the end of the training course all children are divide 2/3 groups to produce short films. All tasks involved in the process from planning a program to screening a film - have been done by the children with the support of the facilitator.
