Abstract
Information in the Digital Knowledge Ecosystem – Challenges for the Library of the Future
In the digital society the processes of knowledge generation, dissemination and use are changing dramatically. The distinct knowledge "item" in the form of the "publication" is replaced by the boundless, in principle infinite knowledge space of dynamically networked data stocks. The knowledge management of this data space is the future task of the library, simultaneously requiring a new definition of its role as the steward of the memory of the digital knowledge society.Item Type: | Conference or Workshop Item (Paper) | ||||||
