Abstract

Reading on the go!

Officially launched by Perlis State Secretary on April 2018, it is an attempt to cultivate reading in Perlis without limitation of location and time using public transportation. The idea to choose Grab was initiate by the Perlis State Public Library Director, as it’s the latest service trend that has been in great demand among users as it’s convenient, cheap, comfortable and fast. The program has involved 20 Grab vehicles in Perlis at the startup named as JomBacaPerlis@Grab. It is an effort to encourage Grab users to read and user can fill the time in the vehicle by reading. Although the duration of the trip is short, their time will hopefully be filled with upgrading their knowledge. Perlis State Public Library has provided a stock of used magazines to every Grab vehicle which is lightweight and relaxed reading material but the information can still be used as general knowledge or add information such as cuisine, psychology, religious, photography, etc. Reading material will be changed periodically or if damaged and lost. Almost 1,600 people per day has used this service throughout Perlis. There is upcoming project to upgrade this service.
