Abstract

Inclusion through art: educational and creative workshops for elementary school students and children with disabilities

The project was realized in 2018 in cooperation with the Belgrade City Library and the Hendi Center "Koloseum". The goal of the project was social integration and inclusion of persons with disabilities in the community. It is achieved through cultural integration, but it also eliminates the prejudice among elementary school students in Belgrade, through program activities. The project is realized in the children's departments of the Belgrade City Library and consists of two sub-projects: 1. Educational workshops for students of Belgrade primary schools - Activities related to three workshops entitled "Fairy tales in sign language". 2. Common creative workshops for elementary school students and children with disabilities - Activities related to three workshops involving children with and without disabilities. Through the realization of the workshops within this Project, we gave an example of good library practice, demonstrated innovative and quality working with users. Libraries promote the full inclusion of persons with disabilities into our society by becoming accessible to them (both physically and virtually). The poster will presents the variety of programs and workshops we have organised.
