Abstract

Beirut Arab University Library, BAU Digital Repository

BAU library established “BAU Digital repository” which engage students to their university and trace the development of the university among years. It was established to provide Local & international communities with BAU rich collection of Photos, rare books, and theses based on Dspace software. It is aligned with the concept of peace, justice, and strong institution, because of free access of its content to all communities. It includes: 1. BAU Image archive (BAU memory): includes around 25000 black/white photos since 1960 until present, reflecting the Development and advancement among 4 campuses: Beirut, Debbieh , Tripoli, & Bekaa. In addition to photos of remarkable personalities who played a major role in BAU development. 2. Rare books: that includes rich collection of original copies, for example: - Al Hambra; - Description de l’egypte; - Mosquee’ de Sultan Hassan. All of this content is available 5% as open access in and outside BAU, but as 100% open access inside BAU Only. 3. Theses are considered as important references to Researchers, BAU students. Through this Repository, BAU is able to contribute in the concept of open access information with justice to all, which reflects that BAU is a strong institution.
