Abstract

IMU Library App for Android users-reaching the Gen Y from a click at the fingertips

The increasing number of smartphone users and the broad coverage of internet created new opportunity for the library to deliver services using new medium. Smartphone is viewed as a powerful computer that can store and process the information in a size of a pocket. Thus, it creates a new potential for the library to provide services and deliver information conveniently anytime, anywhere. IMU Library apps was launched on February 2017. It was developed to assist IMU clinicians, medical students, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with quick, convenient and relevant access to clinical resources. The apps enable users to access IMU Library resources and services such as online catalogues, online databases, request scholarly article and linked users to IMU library social media. Using the apps, users can also access and download IMU subscribed online databases mobile apps such as BMJ Best Practice, Clinical Key, Dynamed Plus and UpToDate. A total of 739 users had already downloaded and used the apps as of December 2017. The application is available for android devices and can be downloaded at Google Play Store.
